On the occasion of World Migratory Bird Day 2025, 22 students from Kumaraguru International Circle (KIC) participated in a birdwatching event — “The Nature’s Canvas” – held at Kumarasamy Lake, Coimbatore on October 11.
Description
Aligned with UNEP’s theme “Shared Spaces: Creating Bird-Friendly Cities and Communities”, the event aimed to build awareness about the significance of migratory birds and the need for bird-friendly urban environments. Students explored the serene lake ecosystem, observing diverse species and understanding their migratory patterns, habitats, and the growing challenges posed by urbanization and climate change. Encouraged by this experience, plans to organize birdwatching sessions every Sunday to continue learning and documenting local avian diversity.
