Project Description
The Run for Anamalais 2024, held on December 29, 2024, at Arivu Thirukovil, Aliyar, in collaboration with Pollachi Vizha, was a resounding success. This fundraising trail run brought together 135 enthusiastic participants, including children, professionals, and local community members, all united for the conservation of the Anamalai Hills and its ecosystem.
The event featured three engaging run categories: a 3 km fun run for families and children, a 5 km challenge for fitness enthusiasts, and a 10 km trail run for seasoned runners seeking an adventurous route. The scenic trails of Aliyar provided a perfect blend of nature, fitness, and conservation.
Beyond the run, the event had a meaningful environmental impact with 25 tree saplings planted inside the Arivu Thirukovil premises. Volunteers dedicated over 600 hours to ensure the smooth execution of the event, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved. Funds raised from the event will support grassroots conservation programs in the Anamalais, focusing on biodiversity preservation and sustainable practices.
Building on this momentum, plans are in place to expand participation in the next edition, targeting over 500 runners while strengthening collaborations with NGOs, schools, and environmental organizations. Future initiatives will include eco-awareness drives, tree plantations, and workshops to keep the community engaged in conservation efforts.
Run for Anamalais 2024 was more than just a run—it was a movement towards a greener future. With each step, participants contributed to protecting the Anamalai Hills, and this journey will only grow stronger in the years to come.
