Project Description
The National Green Corps (NGC), a flagship environmental awareness program initiated by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, successfully took place on 19th March 2025 at Kumaraguru Institutions, Coimbatore. The event aimed to empower students to engage in environmental conservation and sustainable practices at the school level.
Kumaraguru Institutions played a pivotal role in hosting this event, bringing together students and teachers from various schools across the Coimbatore Educational District. The MICROCOSM Department actively contributed by conducting environmental awareness sessions focused on topics like energy conservation, waste management, and climate change adaptation. Students participated in interactive discussions, exhibitions, and demonstrations, gaining valuable insights into green initiatives.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Government Middle Schools, High Schools, and Higher Secondary Schools from Coimbatore and Pollachi Educational Districts. The exhibition featured topics such as mushroom cultivation, energy-saving measures, millet-based healthy food, recycling, wealth from waste, alternatives to single-use plastics, gardening, water conservation, pollution control, and climate change adaptation.
The event concluded with a valedictory function, where certificates were awarded to all participants, and the best projects were recognized. The successful execution of the National Green Corps event reinforced Kumaraguru Institutions’ commitment to environmental sustainability and student engagement in eco-friendly initiatives.
