The Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) 2026 was observed at Kumaraguru Campus from 13 to 15 February, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of citizen science and biodiversity exploration. Over three days, more than 30 participants, including students, faculty, and bird enthusiasts, documented 55+ bird species across diverse campus habitats. As part of the global GBBC initiative, participants engaged in careful observation and systematic data recording, contributing valuable information to worldwide bird monitoring efforts. The activity encouraged participants to recognize birds as important indicators of ecosystem health and habitat quality. GBBC 2026 also reaffirmed the campus as a living biodiversity laboratory where students can observe, learn, and document ecological diversity. The initiative strengthened awareness about local biodiversity and inspired continued engagement in conservation-driven citizen science.
