Project Description
Kumaraguru Institutions, in collaboration with Arulagam NGO, is actively engaged in raising native tree seedlings on its campus to support large-scale afforestation efforts across Tamil Nadu. This year alone, the nursery has successfully raised and planted 30,000 seedlings, making a significant contribution to environmental conservation and biodiversity restoration.
Our approach to nurturing these seedlings is rooted in sustainability and ecological balance. Unlike conventional nurseries, we do not use chemical pesticides, allowing the seedlings to grow in a natural environment without artificial interventions. This ensures that they develop resilience and adaptability to real-world conditions. Additionally, we refrain from providing an excess of nutrients, as an overabundance can make the plants dependent on external inputs. Instead, our method encourages strong root growth and self-sufficiency, preparing the trees for survival in diverse ecosystems.
Each seedling is carefully hand-picked from a healthy mother tree, ensuring genetic strength and adaptability. By selecting seeds from naturally thriving trees, we preserve the integrity of native species and promote long-term ecological benefits. Through this initiative, Kumaraguru Institutions and Arulagam NGO are fostering a greener future, encouraging sustainable reforestation, and empowering communities to take part in environmental stewardship.
