Liberal Edge Course on Climate Smart Agriculture

“How do we grow food in a warming world?” This question guided an engaging session on Climate Smart Agriculture led by Mr. Kumaraguru Manickavasagam of Sigma Farms. The course explored how soil health, water stewardship, crop diversity, and access to local markets shape resilient farming systems in the face of climate uncertainty.

25+ Students examined the broader food system, understanding agriculture as the backbone of nutrition, rural livelihoods, and economic stability. Discussions moved from climate risks to practical adaptation strategies, highlighting how farmers are responding with innovation, responsibility, and enterprise.

Real-world examples from Sigma Farms connected sustainability with entrepreneurship, demonstrating how climate-smart practices can strengthen both productivity and community well-being.
