Overview
The My Otter Diary screening, in collaboration with Zooreach Organisation, offered a rare window into the world of otter conservation through documentary film and live dialogue. The event united students, faculty, and community members in an evening centred on wildlife stewardship, ecological awareness, and the power of storytelling as a tool for environmental action.
About
“When we come together, nature finds a stronger voice through us.” This spirit defined an unforgettable evening on the Kumaraguru campus. Over 300 participants — including 70 curious young minds from schools across Coimbatore — gathered for the screening of My Otter Diary, a documentary that follows the intimate journey of otter life in India’s waterways. In collaboration with Zooreach Organisation, the event was more than a film screening; it became a gathering of kindred spirits united by a shared attentiveness to the natural world. The post-screening conversation with Director Sugandhi Gadadhar and Rana Belur brought depth and warmth to the evening — thoughtful, reflective, and genuinely interactive. Participants moved from observers to participants in a live conservation dialogue, asking questions, sharing observations, and connecting the stories on screen to their own surroundings. The event reinforced Kumaraguru’s commitment to environmental education beyond the classroom, using culture, cinema, and community as pathways to ecological stewardship.
