About

“How do we grow food in a warming world?” This guiding question shaped an engaging learning experience led by Mr. Kumaraguru Manickavasagam of Sigma Farms. A group of 25+ students explored the broader food system, understanding agriculture as a foundation for nutrition, rural livelihoods, and economic stability. Discussions moved from climate risks to practical adaptation strategies, highlighting how farmers are responding with innovation, responsibility, and enterprise. Real-world examples from Sigma Farms connected sustainability with entrepreneurship, demonstrating how climate-smart practices can enhance both productivity and community well-being. The session encouraged students to view agriculture as an interconnected system linking climate, economy, food security, and society. Rooted in field experience and practical insight, the course emphasized the urgent need for future-ready approaches to sustainable food systems.
